When it comes to next steps for Harry and Meghan’s work, so much is uncertain. Will Meghan do voiceovers for Disney? Will she produce, direct, and maybe even star in film work? Will the Sussexes sell their story for $15 million and write a memoir? Will they host a talk show? Who knows. But what we do know is they are not the only members of the Royal Family to have jobs outside of the Firm.
Here are the Family members who work full-time for the Family:
· The Queen
· Philip (retired)
· Charles
· Camilla
· William
· Kate
· Anne
· Andrew (resigned)
· Edward
· Sophie
And here’s who do not:
· Peter Phillips (Anne’s son; he doesn’t have a title)
· Zara Phillips Tindall (Anne’s daughter; she doesn’t have a title)
· Princess Beatrice
· Princess Eugenie
So how do they support themselves?
Peter – okay, so let me tell you about Peter: He’s the finest Royal there is, and you can go run and tell that – currently runs the U.K. branch of events at sponsorship agency Sports and Entertainment LTD. Before that, he’s worked at Jaguar as a corporate hospitality manager, Williams F1 racing team as a sponsorship accounts manager, and as a manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Zara is an accomplished equestrienne – she is even an Olympian, winning silver at the 2012 London Games! – and has her own line of equestrian-inspired jewelry. So on brand for the Windsors. Speaking of on brand, Zara is a brand ambassador for Land Rover, Rolex, and clothing brand Musto, among others.
Beatrice works as vice president of partnerships and strategy at software company Afiniti. She graduated from the University of London’s Goldsmiths College with a degree in history.
Eugenie – who studied art history (like Kate!) and English literature at Newcastle University – is a director at Hauser & Wirth, a London art gallery. Her husband, Jack, is a brand ambassador for George Clooney’s tequila company Casamigos.
So see? It’s totally possible to be a member of the Royal Family and have work elsewhere. I can’t wait to see how Harry and Meghan put their unique spin on being a Royal, but working outside of the Firm.
